Software Environment Upgrade: Advancing User Authentication and Accessibility Advancements
A New, Improved Authentication Application
Scorecard, Control, and Compyle together are updating our user authentication software to Amazon Cognito. This state-of-the-art platform will give us access to enhanced security tools and provide a framework for developing more user access enhancements in the future. With this proactive transition, we will enhance our already robust security measures and set the stage for future refinements.
Same House – New Lock & Key
This update is like changing the locks on your front door. When you change the locks, you need a new set of keys. For an online application, your password is your key, and you will need to set a new password the first time you log in. Once you login, you will have access to Scorecard, Control, and Compyle. The login process alone is changing.
What This Means for Users
- Reset Password: As part of the change, all user passwords are expired. The first time a user logs in after Nov. 13, 2024, the user will see an invalid user password message and be asked to reset their password. That reset link will go to the email address for their account, but the link will only be valid for one hour after the new password is requested.
- Email Verification: The link to reset the password is sent to the email that matches the username in Control, Scorecard, and Compyle. Only users with a valid email address will be able to use the link to set their password and login.
- Automatic Timeout: Users are automatically logged out of Scorecard, Control and Compyle after 120 minutes of inactivity.
Please make sure that your email provider will allow you to receive messages from noreply@clearimpact.com.
Each user has to have a working email address that they can access. Without a valid email address, the user will not be able to log in.
Accessibility Advancements
Throughout Compyle, navigation for screen reader users has been improved to make it easier to navigate throughout the system, identify content, utilize menus, and recognize the results of actions. Most of these changes are behind the scenes, but all users will experience greater clarity with the labeling for tables and other lists, such as the All Participants search.
This is the first half of the accessibility improvements we are working on. The second half is focused on improving how Compyle displays for low vision users who may need to zoom into 200% or 400% resolution. Some aspects of Compyle, while they adapt to different screen sizes, are not a clear as they should be when zoomed in to that extent, and we will address that.
