Copying Scorecard Objects

Scorecards, and scorecard objects, can be copied. This helps you save time by not creating objects from scratch that are similar to existing objects.

This article covers:

Copying a Scorecard

To copy a scorecard, start in the Scorecards list. Click the drop-down arrow to the right of the scorecard you want to copy, and choose Copy.

Note: The Copy to Instance option can be used if you have access to multiple Scorecard instances, or parent - child instances. The Partner Connect feature can be used to share scorecards between organizations.

All scorecard objects will be copied into the new scorecard, except for actions, and attached files. Note that all copies will be separate objects. For example, an indicator in the source scorecard will be copied as a new indicator with the same name. This is a good reason to use tags - to differentiate between otherwise identical scorecard objects.

When copying a scorecard within your instance, calculated (aggregated) measures keep their child measure relationships. When copying a scorecard into a different instance, calculated measures keep neither child measures nor data.

Note: You can also copy an individual program or result, or an individual measure.

Assign a new scorecard title, and tags if needed. If no tags are assigned, any tags from the source scorecard objects will be included in the copied objects, producing copied objects with the same names and tags as their source objects.

If the source scorecard has a parent scorecard, the copied scorecard will have the same parent by default. But you can choose a new parent, or no parent.

After creating the copy, admin users will see the Scorecard Copy Log, with the copy listed as In Progress or Successful.

Returning to the Scorecards list, the copied scorecard is listed.

If tags were assigned to the copied scorecard, those tags will be assigned to all objects within that scorecard, replacing any tags from source objects. All measure data and notes are copied from the source scorecard. But because each copied object is unique, editing a program or result, or editing a measure, will affect only the copy, and not the source.

Tip: If you plan on creating multiple copies of a specific scorecard, we recommend creating the source scorecard with no data or notes. This means that when copies are made, you won’t have to delete existing data or notes.

Copying a Result or Program Container

To copy a container, start in the Results or Programs list. Click the drop-down arrow to the right of the object to copy, and choose Copy.

Assign a new container name or keep the original, assign a tag if you want to differentiate between the copy and original, and decide whether to copy the source object’s notes, measures, and actions.

Once copied, the new container can be added to any scorecard.

Copying a Measure

To copy a container, start in the Indicators or Performance Measures list. Click the drop-down arrow to the right of the object to copy, and choose Copy.

Assign a new measure name or keep the original, assign a tag if you want to differentiate between the copy and original. Decide whether to copy the source measure’s definition, comparison measures, target and actual values, color bands, notes, and actions.

Once copied, the new measure can be added to any container.
